well the best part of today was going to see mr. kuo and mrs. chan (who are married, i just found out that in taiwan the woman doesn't usually/ever take the man's last name. that threw me off for a while). anyway i peek my head around the corner and it's just the two of them, so i sit down and mrs. chan brings over these two pretty scarves and it turns out she had made them for me!
i was pretty excited. she's such a sweet lady. mr. kuo said she had stayed up from 10pm to 2am to make them last night. so i need to think of some good christmas presents to bring back from texas for them. they've given me so many things.here are my scarf models :P mike and martyn
my only other news to report is that this was the first day back with my bad class after i was the bad cop last week. they definitely seemed to take the no chinese rule a little more seriously, but i still took away a whole ton of stickers. i think we're making progress though.serena and i made apple crisp again. that's the third night in a row. i think we're hooked. it's so easy!
2T white sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1/2 c flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon .. cream all of the above and sprinkle over top of
6 or 8 apples, peeled and sliced
325 for 25ish minutes

I will be home for christmas and we should DEFINITELY go to Zocalo! I'm craving their food and the queso...yum! I'm getting back on the 17th I think so we'll have to get together for sure.

Kind of. For instance, if you were to marry a guy named John Doe, when people called out your full name, they would still call out Megan Klein, they would not call out Megan Doe. However, everyone would still call you Mrs. Doe (Doe tai tai) and that is actually how everybody, everywhere would refer to you. Only elders or close friends would ever call you by your full name.
P.S. technically, you should be calling Mrs. Chan, Mrs. Kuo. Or, since you have developed such a close relationship with her, you can probably call her Kuo Ma Ma (Mama Kuo), which is usually what Chinese people would call the mothers of their close friends. Or if you're not comfortable with that, you can call her Kuo Buo Mu (Auntie Kuo).
P.P.S. Okay, wait. Buo Mu might not be intimate enough, you might want to use Ah Yi. You should probably ask someone from Taiwan. Relationship labels can be so confusing. Darn Confucianism.
